Now I had
decided where to go, I needed to decide for how long? After (as always) some
thought I decided that if I gave myself a month to plan, I could organize
myself and also tie up any loose ends at work as I would not be returning after
my trip.
If I
travelled from August to October this would give me the chance to experience
both summer and autumn. The weather in Spain would still be lovely during
September but would also the school holidays would be over.
Because of
the length of time I was travelling a package deal would be out of the question
and really I wanted a more authentic experience. I weighed up the costs it
could be cheaper to book a package and less of a challenge but wasn’t this
about the personal challenge?
Going online,
(whatever did we do before Google?) I looked at the usual suspects; Trip
Adviser, Trivago, Booking.com, Secret Escapes etc. I just wasn’t finding
anything that was a good fit for me. I could go to a travel agent and get them
to organize my trip, but that would increase the costs considerably and also
wasn’t that a bit of a cop-out.
This was not
proving to be that easy….. I started reading travel blogs to see what other
travellers, in particular solo woman did. Time was beginning to run out and I
was trying not to panic. I still hadn’t come up with a plan.
